Through this means, St. Thomas determined that God’s whole essence is to exist and in the act of being, God is divinely simple, universally perfect, and complete goodness. Using this same method, St. Thomas found God to be infinite and because of this infinity, determined that it is impossible to conceive of any part of God’s creation where God is not present. St. Thomas therefore used Aristotelian philosophy to prove St. Augustine’s natural theology and in doing so, reinforced the concept that God is in all things. He said that we live in a sacred world where every fiber is impregnated with the intimate presence of God. God is the act of being of all that exists and as long as things exist, then God must be present in them. He also said that because God is pure act, then he is immutable. God can in no way change.
