... Disciplines Program at the time. One day in class, a representative from the BDP gave a brief presentation on the program. I couldn’t help but see the parallel and similarities the BDP had to Vanderbilt’s plan. I have gathered additional information about the program and scheduled a meeting with a BDP advisor at the Connexus office, I learned a great deal. I discovered that the BDP has similar appealing qualities that I found when researching the Vanderbilt degree. However, it offers other unique qualities that interested me even more. I am specifically drawn to the BDP in Ethics and Leadership and the strand of Business Ethics. Being a freshman in the McCombs School of Business, my course load mostly consists of general requirement classes of a larger size. I believe that the opportunity to participate in the Bridging Disciplines Program will enrich my learning experience vastly, giving me stronger relationships with the faculty as well as offering interesting courses that go beyond the mathematical and technical side of the study of business. Currently I am undecided on what I specifically want to major in as a business student. However, I know that I am more interested in management of both projects and people and possibly marketing. My strengths and talents are best put to use when I am surrounded by people of varying disciplines in a challenging environment that requires me to problem solve and lead. I understand that to successfully prepare myself for my future, interactive experiences are as vital to my education as time in the classroom. The credits involving not only an internship program, but also faculty research groups in the BDP program would of balance out a student’s studies with outstanding unique opportunities. As a person who has a desire to work with people, possibly leading and managing projects and participating in teaming efforts in the business world, I understand that ethical decisions will arise. Courses and opportunities that are given through the BDP provide a basis of experience and knowledge to face dilemmas and merely everyday tasks in possible future careers. I have currently taken an interest in the GSD&M advertising firm in Austin and plan to apply for an internship there. The experience at GSD&M would also provide social and business learning experiences that could not be found in the classroom. I find that group c...
