Cause of World War II
...e blamed for the war. This was called the infamous “War Guilt Cause.” This lowered Germany’s self confidence and their moral. Therefore, since Germany was the sole reason for the war, they had to pay reparations for it as well. The amount of money Germany had to pay was beyond any reasonable amount. All of these reasons were major factors that contributed to the start of the war. The other great force in Germany was a man by the name of Adolf Hitler. Hitler was the leader of the Nazi party and would soon own all of Germany. Hitler also wanted to eradicate all the Jews in the world and create a dominant race. Mussolini of Italy had the same views. They would continue to rein terror on people of all sorts until their deaths; Hitler would commit suicide and Mussolini would be lynched. With Hitler gaining power in Europe, he would soon be very hard to stop. Hitler disobeying the Treaty of Versailles would be one of the main reasons of the war: Germany was starting to bring back an army. On top of building an army, they would send troops into the Rhineland where German troops were not permitted. This was also in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Soon after Hitler’s regaining of troops, he would start to invade countries and take over. Germany was not the only country that played a part in starting the war. As stated before, there were many countries involved the Axis power. The second most powerful country was Japan. Japan wanted to take over the world just like Germany did. Since the United States was one of the worlds leading countries, attacking it would show their willingness to conquer the world. Japan was also not on good terms with the United States. During World War I, Japan was allies with the states. In then end however, they did not receive the land they were told they’d get by the United States. This angered Japan even more. On December 7, 1941, Japan would commit what some would consider suicide. They attack Pearl Harbor and destroyed the United States naval fleet at the base. Around 2500 servicemen were killed. This attack would be the cause of the United States entering the war on December 8. Japan would soon get what they deserved. On August 6, 1945, the United States would drop two atomic bombs on two of the major cities in Japan, annihilating everything in their path. Japan’s logic behind attacking Pearl Harbor was that war was inevitable. Therefore, since war was inevitable, then it might as well be induced and not delayed. They took the stride to attack first, and suffered for their decision. Another cause of the war happened on September 3, 1939. On this date, England and France officially declared war on Germany. France was in one of the worst strategic places of all: right next to Germany. Their plan was to defend France as long as they could before their allies could help them. Their defense was the Maginot Line. The Maginot Line was a line of concrete fortifications, tank obstacles, machine gun posts and other defenses which France constructed along its borders with Germany and with Italy. Well France’s plan didn’t work, and they got trampled over by the Germans. At this time, Pearl Harbor had not yet happened and the United States had not officially entered the war. The United States originally did not want to enter; they just helped the Allies with Acts. Some of the acts the United States passed were the Lend-Lease Act and the Two-Ocean Naval Expansion Act. The Lend Lease Act was a seven billion dollar aid to any countries that the President so desired. The President sent the money to over thirty different countries. Britain, being the main country money was sent to, received over thirty-one billion dollars. They could use the money in whatever area they needed, which would usually be to produce more materials for the army or ships for the navy. The Two-Ocean Naval Expansion Act however, was a four-trillion dollar act that would increase the navy’s ships. It would add seven new battle ships, eighteen carriers, twenty...
