...edar Hill to play a three- game series with the Knights that determined the seeding in the Conference tournament. The Knights went on to win two of the three games in the series claiming the number one seed in the tournament. This was a devastating blow to the Warriors because the two losses dropped them down to the fifth overall seed. These two teams made it to the championship game of the tournament and the Knights prevailed with its first conference championship in school history. This was only the start of a heated rivalry. The 2004 season rolled around and split the conference in half, Bacone on one side and Northwood on the other. Even though the two teams were separated on different sides of the conference, a series was still scheduled in Muskogee in late February. This was set to be an early test for both teams and would be used a huge confidence builder as the teams went into conference play. The Knights opened game one with a four nothing lead only to see it evaporate as Bacone went on to ten run-rule Northwood in seven innings. Game 2 was set to be a seven-inning game as part of a double-header. The Knights struggled to score runs as the Warriors continued to hit the ball and took Game 2 of the three game series. Emotions had run high in the first two games of the series and there was a lot of tension between the two teams. There were many times when words had been exchanged between the two teams. The frustration with the lack of run production on the part of the Knights had reached a boiling point as the umpire behind the plate, the same for Game 1 and Game 2, had taken many of the bats out of the hands of the visiting team. Game 3 took on a new outlook as Northwood tried to salvage the series with a win to avoid the sweep. The game got off to a slow start as each team was struggling to put runs on the board. The Warriors jumped out ahead with a couple runs scored off of the long ball. The Knights came to bat in the next inning and had loaded the bases with no outs.
