...and hatred, it seems as if he might have done this for fun due to the way he enjoyed it. This knowledge of evil that he possessed inside of him helped him a lot in his evil plot. Iago possessing the trust of most of the characters is another reason of this tragedy went so smoothly. As stated Iago didn’t bother to hide his evil ways, but even so, he still had the trust and loyalty of all the other characters. This one plot was triggered because of his jealousy from Rodrigo’s promotion, and his suspicion of Othello's causing Emilia to commit adultery. Roderigo wanted Desdemona for himself and confides in Iago which gives Iago all this power because of the secret he knows and the money being given. Othello being blinded by love and Iago’s manipulation gave Iago a chance to do a lot of damage. Casio’s friendly self with Emilia gave Iago the chance to use him as he pleased.
