For these three types of the keyboard instruments, organ was the oldest instrument of all. Organ developed before Middle Age and it is still used by now days. The clavichord was developed in the late Middle Age and remained popular, especially as a domestic instrument, through the sixteenth, seventeenth, and the eighteenth centuries. The harpsichord was popular since sixteenth century to the middle of the eighteenth century. Harpsichord and the clavichord are similar to each other, while the organ is not so similar.
