Discuss the Differnces of the First and Second united front

A second united was formed under the pressure of national unity as well. Starting from 1930s, Japan spread her influence towards the eastern part of China. An explosion of the South Manchurian Railway gave an excuse for the Japanese to conquer Manchuria and turned into a puppet state. A hidden signal from Japan ’s expression over China had alarmed the Chinese. They might be conquered by the Japanese if they continue the civil war. But Jiang thought in a different way. He wanted the get rid of the spread of communism and then deal with the foreign aggressions. Such way of thinking arouse the anger of Zhang Xuekiang, who is a patriotic and his father was killed by the Japanese. So Zhang kidnapped Jiang in xi’an, Shaanxi’s capital. The incident was known as the Xi’an Incident. Zhang showed the people ‘s great concern in Japanese affair. Under the threat of his own safety and public pressure, he agreed to stop the civil war and set up the Second united front. However, their are some differences in forming the fronts as well. We shall noted that the First on took place in 1924 and the leader was Sun Yixian while the second one occurred in 1937 and Jiang is the main leader to set up the united front. the 1st one formed with the help of foreigners - Soviet Russia, and was under the pressure from public, to stop the division of china among warlords, while the other one didn’t. It formed under the immediate incident and the threat of foreigners - Japan in occupying Manchuria. Secondly, their aims are rather similar, to unify China and restore order. The Warlord Era has badly effected the life of common people. Their were social instability and it threaten people’s life. A United Front was set up to stop the problem. Sun aimed at having a strong military foundation first. He built up a modern military army called the Revolutionary Army. And then he launched the Northern Expedition to against the warlords. They‘re aimed at stopping the civil war inside China and regained peace in the country. For the Second United front, their aims were exactly the same , to retake Manchuria from the Japanese ( to unify the country) and to restore peace. But the targeted enemies was different this time. They are aimed to defeat outside invader-Japan, to stop further foreign aggression. Thirdly, for the First & 2nd Front, able to success in stooping inter-war temporay and it also give rise to Jiang.
