Vitamins and minerals are a central nutrient to a healthy diet. Minerals such as calcium, protein, magnesium, sodium, iron and zinc are the most necessary minerals for the human body. Calcium is the main mineral in bones and teeth, it acts in nerve functioning, and immune defense. Magnesium builds proteins, maintains normal muscular contractions. Water is the most indispensable nutrient. Water plays many vital roles in the body’s functions, it carries nutrients and waste products throughout the body, acts as a lubricant and cushion around joints, serves as shock absorber inside the eyes, spinal cord, aids in maintaining the body’s temperature. During the time in the military, I was involved in, a variety of sports, such as flag football, softball, weight lifting and running. I choose to continue to stay fit by exercising more than an hour five times week to relieve stress, and to prevent severe diseases. For example, my exercise routines consist of ten minutes stretch and warm up session, and then a fifty plus minute weight lifting session. Some days I would jump on the treadmill and run two to three miles at a eight minute miles pace to keep my two miles time low, also to aid in fat burning and a healthy heart. I do not smoke, and consume very little alcohol, mainly on holidays or special occasions. I don’t understand how people in general can smoke and consume harmful substances knowing the consequences and risks involved.
