To some extent, having exceptionally high levels of health related fitness is similar to having high levels of skill-related fitness. For example, moderate amounts of strength are necessary to prevent back and posture problems, whereas high levels f strength contribute most to improve performance in activities such as football and jobs involving heavy lifting Agility, balance, coordination, power, reaction time, and speed are often considered to be the main components of skill-related physical fitness. Since each fitness characteristic is related to certain motor skills, such as those required in sports and n specific types of jobs, each is classified as part of skill-related fitness. Skill-related fitness is sometimes called “sports fitness” or “ motor fitness”. There is little doubt that there are other abilities that could be classified as skill-related fitness components. Also, each part of sill-related fitness is multidimensional. For example, coordination could be hand-eyed coordination such as batting a ball, foot-eye coordination such as kicking a ball, or any of many other possibilities. The six parts of skill-related fitness identified here are those that are commonly associated with successful sports and work performance.
