They lead a normal, easy life, which bores them. Se they start reading medical books in order to distract themselves. While reading the three friends decide they’re ill, having practically every symptom, of every known illness, but housemaid’s knee. Our heroes believe that their allegedly shaky state of health had been brought on by overwork. As an immediate reaction, they loose interest in food and go on a river trip (that will restore the mental equilibrium).
