However, Fox did not have time to celebrate his victory because there were economic issues to attend as president. One of Fox’s major accomplishments has been to stabilize the economy in Mexico. As a result of a more stable economy he has been able to create jobs for the unemployed and most economically depressed people. Also, the inflation rate has fallen to 3% allowing hard-currency reserves to surpass $ 48.5 billion (Cantu). Another indicator that the economy in Mexico has improved with Vicente Fox as president is that foreign investment is increasing. Not only has Fox improved the economy, he has also fought to decrease the organized crime in Mexico. Vicente Fox has also fought to end criminality that affected Mexico long before he came into power. In the eighteen months since President Fox’s inauguration Mexican government has dedicated itself as never before to combating crime (Grayson).
