Remembering 9-11

...d happened. The World Trade Center is really in New York and not in Europe, and the terrorist attack was really on us. I also soon realized that there were two more planes that also went down. There was one in Pennsylvania and one at the Pentagon. But that is all I found out before Mr.Forsythe made us return to our seats as he shut off the TV. Applied Tech usually went by pretty slowly, but never as slow as it did that day. Every one of us was wondering what was going on, was there anything new, and how many fatalities? We asked him to turn it back on, but he wouldn’t. Finally, for the last five minutes of class he let us watch. Then the bell rang. Everyone usually sprints out of the classroom, but not today. Many stayed and watched the TV for a while before going to second hour. Second hour went by with everyone talking about what had happened, and what we thought might happen. Second hour went by; in my class we did not watch anymore TV. But in other classes they watched for any new information. Once lunch came we were able to tell each other about what we had learned. There was a TV in the cafeteria but not as many people were watching as one would suspect. After lunch we sat in the hall like normal. But we didn’t talk about the latest drama at Shell Lake High as normal. Everyone was talking about the terrorist attack, and most people were trying to figure out who had done this and were talking about revenge. The rest of the school day went by extremely slowly without finding out any more information to clarify what had just happened . After school we had football practice. Everyone was excited to get done with football practice and go home, to find out who had done this and why. Football practice was anything but normal. The whole team was timid. The seniors did not make jokes or have a good time at practice. Everyone just wanted to go home. Finally, football practice was over and I got to go home. The first thing my mom said to me when I got home was, “Did you hear what happened.” I replied, “Yeah the terrorist attack. Did they find out who had done this.” She was not clear about who had done this either. I heard the TV on so I went and watched. Soon after I learned that the attack was by a terrorist group known as Al Qaeda. I was also informed that the terrorist leader responsible for this attack was a man named Osama Bin Laden. I also found out about the suicide bombers and wondered why anyone would take their own life just to try to hurt others. Once I heard about how many people might have died I felt sick to my stomach and had to leave. I still could not figure out why some one would do this to ...
