Special attention was paid to minorities this election year, as both candidates rallied for their votes. In doing so, each candidate had to change their approach by using a “tongue” that would appeal to that specific targeted audience. Through the power of speech and language, each and every voter was left to critically think about one question, “Whom do I want to lead my country?” Language is the common denominator for every culture; we all know our own, we need to diversify ourselves to learn others. Language is a very powerful thing, we use it everyday to covey our thoughts, feelings and ideas. Having the ability to voice an opinion, think out loud, and share experiences can be moving. The larger our grasp on language, the easier the communication is. Take for example the language barrier I have with my son. He is two years old, and his inability to communicate with me makes understanding what he wants hard. Because he cannot verbalize what is on his mind, I have to think about what he may want or be feeling in order to help him. Although I understand the language he is trying to learn and speak, communication with him can be frustrating at times. When you have knowledge about a subject, you have the ability to articulate that knowledge as well as all experiences related to that topic to others. However, language does have its limitations. When trying to communicate with another individual who doesn’t speak the same “tongue”, expressing thoughts and feelings can be difficult.
