...d poem. but as i have gotten older, i have learned that poetry doesn't always rhyme. Sometimes the poet doesn't want his poem to ryhme. maybe he doesn't want his poem to be so easy to read and figure out. Poetry holds very deep meaning, and sometimes the poet wants us to have to think really hard and study his poem in order to figure our its meaning. Another reason i enjoy poetry is the word selection. A poet always chooses his words very carefully. he not only looks at a words definition, but he looks at its sentiment. the words that he chooses bring the emotion into the poem. one of the things that is most exciting to me about poetry, is that one person can read a poem, and get something totally differnt out of it thatn another person. that is mainly because of the poet's word choice. a poet sometimes uses contradictory words. for example, when we read Theodore Roethke's poem "my papa's waltz" in class, some people thought it was about a child who was being battered, and some people thought it was just about a father and son who were playing around. that's what is so clever about a poet's word choice, although this can be unintentional. another inportant aspect of poetry that intrugues me, is the rhythm of a poem. when i think of fhythm, i automatically think of music. yes, rhythm is a very important feature of music, but it is also a very importan part of poetry. what is so neat a...
