Right now there is complete chaos, no one is directly in charge, there is constant revolts and etc. Hopefully after the election, there will be more stability, conformity and government. Some Sunnis are opposed to election because they would rather regain the power of government. There are also the Shiites who would enjoy that opportunity to regain power. There are also the Kurds who oppose the Sunnis and Shiites but also want their own state to have for themselves. None of these groups have come upon an agreement and they all want more power than the other. The Iraqi resistance are simply the groups fighting against the U.S. and each others who want control of the state.
