The last form of sexual abuse is Sexual Exploitation, which includes engaging a child for the purposes of prostitution and using a child to film, photograph or model pornography. Some signs that children have been sexual abused in younger children are compulsive masturbation, bed wetting and excessive curiosity about sex, signs in pre-puberty and teenage children are stealing, running away, and starting files, and lastly signs in older children are suicide attempts, early marriage, and running away. Statistic show by the age of eighteen one and three girls will have been sexually molested and one in six boys will have been molested in the same time frame. It is known that at least three hundred thousand children are involved is prostitution or pornography. Sources state that not nearly all cases of child abuse are reported or even estimated. In many cases adults who abuse children were abused when they were younger, this causes a circling effect. Physical and sexual abuse are considered to be road block in life not to be taking lightly but are known as roadblock in the road because eventually that they will be over to get over it. Mental/Emotional abuse is 8% of all sustained cases of child abuse; it is defined as a systematic tearing down of another human being. A pattern that can interfere with a child’s positive development. This form of abuse affects not only the child and family but also society as a whole. This is the least understood form of child abuse but the most accepted, which is why it is the cruelest and most destructive of all types of abuse. Mental/Emotional abuse attacks a child’s psyche and self-concept, a victim of this abuse see her/himself as unworthy of love and affection. Children that are constantly humiliated, terrorized or rejected suffer as much if not more that a child who has been physical abused. Rejection is one type of mental/emotional abuse, ignoring, terrorizing, isolating and corrupting. Mental/Emotional abuse leaves hidden scars that grow in numerous ways such as insecurity, poor self-esteem, destructive behavior, angry acts, withdrawal, poor development skill, alcohol or drug abuse, suicide and difficulty of forming relationships. Child neglect is the most common form of child abuse and is seen in 63% of child abuse cases. Neglect is defined as a type of maltreatment that refers to the failure to provided needed age appropriate care such as shelter, food, clothing, education, supervision, medical care, and other basic necessities needed for development of physical, intellectual and emotional capacities. Neglect is usually categorized as an ongoing pattern of inadequate care and is readily observed by individuals in close contact with the child. Some of the people who suspect neglect are physicians, nurses, day care personnel, relatives and neighbors in infants, toddlers and preschool children. Type of neglect are physical neglect the definition for this the refusal of or extreme delay in seeking necessary healthcare, child abandonment, inadequate supervision, rejection of a child leading to expulsion from the home and failing to adequately provide for a child’s safety and physical and emotional needs. This can severely effect a child’s development by causing failure to thrive physically, emotionally and mentally. Another form of neglect is Education neglect. This occurs when a child is allowed to engage in chronic truancy, is of mandatory age to attend school but not enrolled or receiving special educational training which can lead to under achievement in acquiring basic skills. Emotional neglect is another and includes action such as chronic or extreme spousal abuse in the child’s presence or allowing a child to use alcohol or drugs. This can lead to poor self-image, alcohol or drug abuse, destructive behavior and suicide.
