Candidates must also have a performance history that demonstrates proven skills in managing limited resources against multiple demands, strong organizational prioritizing and problem solving skills and solid oral and written communication skills. Knowledge in office automation including automated case management systems and a working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Criminal and Civil Procedure and the Court’s local rules are preferred. Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures is required along with thorough knowledge of case management. Working conditions Judges, magistrates, and other judicial workers do most of their work in offices, law libraries, and courtrooms. Work in these occupations presents few hazards, although sitting in the same position in the courtroom for long periods can be tiring. Most judges wear robes when they are in a courtroom.
