...caused excited little tremors to run up her jaw.” (73). That quote basically describes to the reader a bit about the setting and the protagonist (Myop). Myop is the daughter of a sharecropper who lives life to its fullest and enjoys every step of the way. “She was ten, and nothing existed for her but her song, the stick clutched in her dark brown hand, and the tat-de-ta-ta-ta of accompaniment.”(73). The scenery in the beginning of the story starts out as a beautiful summer day in the fields, Myop collecting flowers and watching the tiny bubbles upon the soil by the stream as she continued following the picket fence. As the story progresses Myop starts realizing the change in scenery. “She had often been as far before, but the strangeness of the land made it not as pleasant as her usual haunts. It seemed gloomy in the little cove in which she found herself. The air was damp, the silence close and deep.”(73). The climax begins once Myop starts feeling uncomfortable and starts to circle back to the house. “It was then she stepped smack into his eyes. Her heel became lodged in the broken ridge between brow and nose, and she reached down quickly, unafraid, to free herself. It was only when she saw his naked grin that she gave a little yelp of surprise.”(73-74). Myop had found herself face to face with a corpse. “He had been a tall man.
