Humans try to control the feelings of restlessness with a cup of hot coffee in the morning to help them stay awake, or take resting pills to help them go to sleep. This is like a cycle that has been set biologically in the genes. Why does the human body then feel hunger? Hunger is a signal of the organism that something is needed for its growth and sustenance. Hunger is felt to get the body to eat. It has incredible intelligence behind it. It is a driving force in nature to do what is good for the human body. From this perspective it is clear why the body would want to have “true hunger,” for it signals what is needed and insists to attend to those needs. The problem with this is that there are a lot of mixed feelings and misconceptions about the bodies drive toward fruition. Hunger, before being satisfied, creates tension. The push for growth recognizes that the body is more Page 2-macias likely to welcome the signs of hunger. So the body tells what it needs, and in return pays attention and attunes itself to the meaning of food. Is sexual attraction then merely a biological tyranny? Humans reproduce sexually and like all other sexual creatures, the body is subject to instinctive desire triggered by appropriate criteria: sexual desire. Humans can think, so not only do humans desire physical attraction but also desire societal and cultural as well. Humans do not battle for breeding rights like animals do. The human female does not come into heat; she can mate anytime, and she can get pregnant any month and she can deliver any day. However, humans still apply criteria in selecting a mate.
