...well. First, let me dwell upon the advantages of TV. TV can be enjoyed at home with a minimum of effort by turning on a switch and changing a living room into a play-house. Having become an integral part of our life, TV gives us a lot of knowledge, all sorts of information we may need, it keeps us informed about what’s going on in the world and also helps us to be in the centre of cultural life of the planet. With the help of TV one can listen to some valuable opinions and be given a piece of advice in different spheres of human knowledge and relationships. Finally, television is one of the most popular means of entertainment which helps us relax providing nice leisure. By the way, we can make up our opinions about one or another country by TV programs and movies, produced by this state. Not so long ago I came across a very interesting statement said by Lady Astor: „From the American movies you’d think America was populated by solely naked women and cinema stars”. I guess that it is an entertaining conclusion and partly true. Now I’d like to return to our main theme-television. On the other hand, television apparently has its bad sides. We can’t deny the fact that TV prevents people from socializing with each other and, besides, moving around. In my opinion, chronic shortage of people’s motion has become one of the biggest problems of the 21-st century and it’s partly the fault of television. Apart from that, not all TV programs are good and useful: in fact a lot of parents express considerable concern about the amount of violence shown on TV, particularly around 9 p.m...
