These women are usually tracked down and charged with criminally abandoning their babies. The law should be changed so that unfit mothers could safely and legally surrender her child to the care of the state. Child abandonment is a devastating situation that no one should really see or should ever have to take part in. The intention of this new law is to give mothers who do not wish to provide care for their infants an alternative.
