...aking ability. Even now as an adult and being able to share them with my two-and-a-half year old daughter, I am still thrilled, as is she, by children’s books. They are a source of inspiration, serenity and fascination, and have influenced me to write and illustrate my own children’s books. In the following pages, is a catalogue listing merely a few of the many authors and illustrators that I admire and adore, and find truly inspirational. Most of the books chosen were written for pre-school through elementary school levels, which is the level I hope to focus on in my own writings. Also included, is a list of publishers of children’s books retrieved from the wonderful and informative website of the Children’s Book Council (CBC), www.cbcbooks.org. CBC are self-proclaimed to be, “A non-profit trade organization dedicated to encouraging literacy and the use and enjoyment of children's books, and is the official sponsor of Young People's Poetry Week and Children's Book Week each year.
