to what extent have men and women changed in socitiey
...ds they both lived in the same area, but there was one strong difference between the two of them which was that there gcse results were very different. The lady received 10 GCSE her lowest mark was a B and the rest of her marks were a range from A to A* and she also went on to study for A-levels and got into university. In contrast to this the man struggled through his GCSE. He gained seven gcse two of which he had to re-sit. He got two a-levels and was rewarded a B and a C for this, he got into to university however it was on a scholarship. But had the male and female worked in the same job doing the same thing the male would automatically get a higher wage partly from the fact that he a male he would get roughly around £1,500 more. I feel this is very unfair, as the lady has worked equally as hard if not harder in her life, in my opinions they should be at least on the same wage if not getting more as a result of her exams. Having looked at recent statistics for GCSE the tables have now turned around, as it is no longer boys that are leading the way girls have had an increase. This year's GCSE exam results, for more than 600,000 students, show that girls are now outstripping boys in almost every subject. Girls are head of boys from quite a large percentage, 64.2% of girls passed at C or above compared with a 55% of boys that passed, that’s a big difference of 8.8%. In English 48.2% of boys passed with grades A* to C compared with 65.1% of girls. In English literature 57.9% of boys passed at A* to C compared with 72.5% of girls passed the exam. In business studies 57.3% of boys passed at A* to C compared with 61% of girls passed. In history 60.5% of boys passed at A* to C compared with 66.8% of girls. In design and technology 52.1% boys passed at A* to C compared with 70.2% of girls. As you can see a lot has changed and things have become more equal as the boys don’t just do the best as what seen as the masculine subjects. Like science and design technology. Having a family takes up a lot of responsibility and time. Its hard work but women are lumbered with the response to look after the children and also be the employee. This is called a dual role, and if a female employee takes maternity leave they will enter back to work at a lower level. This is why when in interviews women get asked personal questions about their private lives. This is unfair as women get penalized and they may not get the job mainly because the workplace will fill that the women will not be 100% committed to the job. When men go for a job the interviewer never ask the man if he has any children, I find this very unfair as the man could be just as inclined to have children as t...
