Tutankhamun's Tomb
...s so I recommend using a candle. When Carter found the tomb was breathable he made a hole and he looked inside. Carnarvon who was now jumping up and down said, " What do you see? “Carter replied in a few short words " I see wonderful things". Many people believe that if you see "wonderful things" that you must mean gold and jewelry but Carter saw it differently he saw what made the tomb important he saw the Egyptian life. This was the only royal tomb they have ever found with everything untouched. They saw the Egyptian clothes, food and furniture. There were even toys and games like Senet and 8-9 toy boats. Best of all the many murals and frescoes. The murals were flaking off but were still beautiful. Carter was a very smart man even though he knew there were probably 3-4 more rooms he stayed in the room numbered and photographed all of the items. This took awhile but it got done with care and all except one crushed. When he finished the 1st room ( the Annex ) he went onto the second. He did the ante chamber (2nd room) the same as the Annex. First you photo then you number. Why do they photo ? Because these things are very ancient and old they can crumble at just the smallest touch. I'm glad Carter was smart enough to photograph everything because some things when he touched them crumbled into pieces like the robes on the statue in front of the burial rooms. They had disintegrated at first touch. I’m glad Howard Carter photographed them because we would have never been able to see what it or the robes looked like. Carter knew that the next room would be the burial and he would hope to see the untouched mummy. Carter kept his promise and notified the Egyptian government right away. It would take them a couple of days to go up the Nile and they told Carter not to touch it. But Carter could not stand it anymore he and Carnarvon late at night snuck in and made a whole in back of a large basket. They crept in and saw the coffin they were satisfied it was untouched . But on the way out Lord Carnarvon got bit by a poisonous mosquito on the left cheek. Carnarvon scratched and scratched it that only irritated it more. That next day while shaving he ripped it open and all the blood went down the drain. He started to feel sick and was rushed to Cairo. He died at 2:00 in the morning the next day. People say that the tomb is haunted. That once you find it, bad things will happen to you. Carter admits that he found a clay tablet while working one day and it said die on it he broke it into pieces. Next Carters bird canary was mysterious eaten by a cobra snake. Just like the cobra on the funeral mask of tut. Then Carnarvon dies of mosquito bites and at the second he died his trustful dog back in England howled his last words and passed away. Then the whole city blacks out into darkness. Many people say it's the mummies curse and others say it's a coincidence. You decide, curse or coincidence. Getting back to the tomb it's sad that Carnarvon did not get to see the mummy but Carter had to go on. He saw the chamber with the Egyptian government and he was amazed by it . It had so much stuff in it. He had a all gold funeral mask and was covered from head to toe with jewelry. Tut's favorite things were all around him and around his neck t...
