The Negative Effects of Internet

...cording to Barmann, who had finger out that: College students are considered to be at a higher risk because they have ready access to the Internet and they have flexible time to schedule. They found that nearly three-quarters of all the students having at least one symptom that indicated their Internet use was causing problems in their lives. These students using the Internet to make themselves feel better, losing sleep, missing classes, hiding their time on-line, and missing social engagements. As he pointed out, the Internet seriously influences the life and study of college students. Due to the fictitious nature of the Internet, it isolated people from the nature world. Therefore, the Internet also affects communication among people. Because of the use of the Internet, as Kraut et al. provided: “Citizens vote less, go to church less, discuss government with their neighbor less, are members of fewer voluntary organizations, have fewer dinner parties, and generally get together less for civic and social purposes.” (1998) Kraut et al. also showed clearly that greater use of the Internet was significantly associated decreased communication within the family and close friends. There is no law, no domination in the world of the Internet. While the Internet is a free world, it is also disorder. Many people probably would respond just like her in this situation. “I ignored that e-mail, as well as a later one. But when the third one came, I decided to respond.” Said Malanowski. She realized that she had made a mistake when she got a call from her credit card company three months later. She had been phished. “ Phishing is a pretty good metaphor for a crime in which the bad guys use e-mail lures to ‘fish’ for personal information from an unsuspecting victim.” (Malanowshi, 2004) “Computer viruses are small programs that can usually cause problems for your computer. Most viruses attack you hard drive, sometimes, making your computer unable to run until the hard drive has been reformatted and all of your files replaced.” (“Viruses & the Internet”) However, most viruses are delivered on e-mail and download files. The more use of Internet, the more viruses might be in your computer. The word “hacking” has two definitions. The first definition refers to the hobby or profession of working with computers. The second definition refers to breaking into computer systems. While the first definition is older and is still used by many computer enthusiasts, who refer to cyber-criminals as “crackers”, the second definition is much more commonly used. For this r...
