Report on the United Kingdom

...s means I am excitable, worrying reactive and alert, and this may mean that I am not good in a fast moving business. I have always wanted to work for a big company, however after seeing my dominant traits I may be more suitable for a slower smaller type of business, like a small ltd company. Some of the people in my group also had similar score to me, this may be due to how the questionnaire is set out, and for example it asks you if you think you are more warm or cold, not many people would say cold, so people will have the same answer for it. This is only the short version of the short questionnaire the (neo-ffi) which usually has 60 questions instead of 25, so maybe you would get a more true picture of personality if we did the (neo-ffi). Motivation Motivation is defined as ‘the cognitive, decision making process through which goal directed behaviour is initiated, energized, and directed and maintained’. For motivation I worked out my growth need strength (appendix 3) for this I had 12 pairs of statements, and said which one I would prefer from the choice, with a scale of 1-5 in-between, then divided my total score by 12 and got 3.5. A score of 3.5 means I have high growth need strengths, and I would respond positively by job enrichment, this is true I like a job because its fun and I enjoy it and not just for the pay. However this result was common, a person in my group got 3.5 as well, this maybe because on some of the questions you picked the answers you thought you should and not the honest ones. I also did a job diagnostic survey (sds) this is to see my motivating personality score (appendix 3, part2) I got a score of 170.5 this is very high it means I was very motivated at my last job at British Home Stores, which I was, I liked my job because I always got feedback, although not always positive, and got to contribute my idea’s. Someone in my group got 75, this may mean that he is de-motivated at his job (Matalan) maybe because of poor working conditions; this could be bad for Matalan because he’s productivity will decrease due to low motivation. Groups For this I did Belbin’s team role questionnaire (appendix4) this is where I had to distribute 10 points between 10 statements, there were 7 sets of statements. you then have to put your scores into a table to see what skills you have, I got a high score on team worker, this means I should work well with others without much conflict, I also got a high completer score, this means I should complete most the tasks I do and not give up on it or be to lazy to finish it, this does sound like me. I was in a group of five, and everyone had different skills, the only skill our group did not have was someone who got a high score on monitor/evaluator. If our team was part of a business we would do well, we all got high scores on team worker so we should work well together and be able to contribute ideas. If we were in part a business we would need a monitor/evaluator, this is because otherwise we would work very slowly and wouldn’t know how to improve from our last task to our next task. Unlike the questions on organisations, personalities and motivation, this one seems accurate and true. Leadership Leadership is defined as the process of influencing the activities of an organised group in its efforts towards goal-setting and goal-achievement. To find out what kind of leader I would be I had 35 questions (appendix 5) and I had to pick weather I would always do it, to, I would never do it. From this you can see your employee centred score and...
