...the men are the family’s leader and everything. He must have a good financial status, shelter, and food to support his wives. The roles of the women in these families are just the same as others. Only the children’s roles change because more children are being sent to school. This is because this particular family had enough money to educate their children. Things changes in Malaysia when I just seen small type of families. Some families just consist of a pair of couples with no children and some only had a child. QUESTION 2: How are they different today? ANSWER: From my observation, I have found out that from my old time until now, the drastic changes occurs in the women’s role either in the family or society. When I was young, women’s can be considered as servant to their husband and now the women’s has their own status in society and begin to gain respects from others. The financial status of the family’s now is not only the husband’s responsibilities but the wife’s too. Other change that happens is the age for marriage. Last time the average numbers of children in my village are 6 but now some couple’s just having 1 child and the average numbers of children (based on a general survey in a main city in Malaysia) is 1. The next issue is different type of marriage that formed by human overtime. Last time there is no such word as same sex family but now this type of marriage spread all over the world. This can be clarified as new a change that happens now. QUESTION 3: What responsibilities did you have in the household while you were growing up? As a wife, I need to serve my husband and also take care of him. I need to wake up early in the morning and prepare breakfast for the entire family. After sent all my children to school and my husband to work, I need to clean the house and after that session, I’ll need to prepare lunch. After all my children came back from school, I need to guide them in doing their school homework. Then, after my husband came back from work, I need to help him by hearing his problems which will help him to relax. These all are my daily routine and can be considered as my responsibilities in my family. QUESTION 4: What were three important rules that you had in your family? This rule is to avoid our family members from going to bad places. The third rule which is the most important rule in my family that we all keep it up until now is prayers.
