... needed in the work field. College prepares you for the “real world” and if you can’t make it to class then you definitely aren’t going to make it in the real world. If you are in class you can listen to the instructor which is a lot easier then reading somebody’s notes. If you hear it first hand you can retain it a lot easier. Ask for help! In every college there are people that are available to assist you with things such as homework help and when you just need somebody to talk to. You can talk to people such as your instructor, the school guidance counselor or maybe even the athletic director. They are all there to help you. When you don’t know the answer to something and you don’t ask anybody you will never know what it was, and you go to college to get an education so you shouldn’t be afraid to ask. Exams and tests come up often in college so how you study and where you study is important. You can’t just grab a book, go sit in the gym and expect to remember something other then which team is winning. In order to retain the information properly you need to remove yourself from your peers and be alone in an environment that you are comfortable in. Make sure you know the material and when you feel you know it well enough challenge yourself. For example in math; try a few extra problems to keep your brain flowing (Chambal). The way you present your work in class is also very important. Your answers should always be completed in full sentenced, your spelling should be correct as well as your grammar. You should also make sure that your work is shown clearly so that both you and your instructor can see what is being done. Also, paying attention to detail such as; fonts, size, straight lines etc… is very important especially in college because you should be professional at everything you do and treat it as if it were your job. Besides school you need to make sure that you are healthy. Health plays such a big role in your everyday life inside and outside of school. If you aren’t healthy then you can’t make it to your classes everyday, you won’t be up to par in learning and completing tasks that need to be done. ...
