Revenge in Julius Caesar and in Hamlet

The theme of both Hamlet and Julius Caesar is that revenge is not to be taken lightly, and can rarely be truly moralized. ... Both Hamlet and Antony and Octavius’ plans for revenge caused many deaths, both their own and the deaths of those around them.

Hamlet is visited by a ghost, who tells him that Claudius, his uncle, murdered his father (“The serpent that did sting thy fathers life now wears his crown,” (1. ... )) Rather than acting instantly to revenge his father’s death, he delays in killing Claudius.
