...shocked at how difficult his life was. Being an ex-gang banger myself, I know how rough life on the streets can be. I feel that I can relate to Reymundo in many ways because like me, he saw that life in the hood was not as he thought it would be. Throughout his gang banging life, he lost many people who were very close to him. I have lost numerous friends on the streets too. Another important point that I saw Sanchez make was that the police was very racist with the Hispanics in his community. I believe that cops all over the city are racist towards anyone who looks like a banger. I have suffered from this racism many times. They lock me up for no apparent reason. The way I look is the way I am judged on the streets. Reymundo could not step out of his Humboldt Park home because anywhere he went he was in danger of loosing his life. I do not have that problem because I do not represent no more, but I was also from the Humboldt Park area. I walked the same streets myself, but with no crown on my head. I USED to be an Almighty Harrison Gentleman from Ashland and Augusta. That is no longer the case though. Sex, drugs, and violence describe the events of his life very well. An example of how sex was part of his life was when he raped a young girl who intended to be a Latin Queen. She was flirting with him while he was intoxicated, and he took her flirting the wrong way. He asked her to perform oral sex for him, but she said NO. Since he was a Latin King, the head of the Kings ordered the girl to do what he pleased since flirting and not doing what Reymundo wanted was a sign of disrespect to him. Reymundo’s life revolved around sex and getting high on cocaine. I do not relate to this part of his life at all because I have never done drugs or raped anyone.
