Militarism was basically when conflicts built up through each nation’s military. Alliances had played a big role in the WWI. Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy made the Triple Alliance. The other powers in the war worried about the strength of these allies together. Great Britain didn’t have any allies at the time until France and Russia came along. They came together and were now called the Triple Entente. If Austria-Hungary wouldn’t have joined the war, there would not have been a ‘World’ War. Instead it would have just been between Germany and Britain. The main spread f the war had to do with the Alliance System itself. Imperialism is the takeover of a country or territory by a stronger nation with the intent of dominating the political, economic, and social life of the people of that nation. Imperialism affected the war strongly and is the reason the ‘Great War’ became a World War. Since the fifteenth century, colonies had been taken over by European countries.
