...other. Because it is such a universal theme, it is easy for people to relate to not only the story itself, but to the cast and crew as well. The protagonist in the story, Ugly, did a great job of relaying his sentiment to the entire audience. As I said, it was easy enough for the audience to relate to his cause but with such fine acting, it was that much easier to share. As the antagonist in the story, the cat did a great job also. Although the audience is not supposed to sympathize with the villain, his antics and laughable portrayal made the play that much better. It definitely seemed like a lot of work went in to this production and it was certainly well-rehearsed. Technically, I found the play to be very appealing as well. Each scene was well thought out and the set as a whole was great. Changing the set from one scene to another was subtle but also very effective. The crew did a good job of creating exciting props that really transformed everything. As far as the weaknesses of the play, I found the music to be a bit much. Although the play is a musical, I found it very hard to sit through 17 songs in a relatively short performance. I would have to say that it seemed like 90% of the production was sung and several important aspects of the play could have been relayed just as easily through dialogue.
