Smiles and Cries
...open and two men walk in with masks. The two men order everyone on the floor, and tell the bartender to open the register and hand him the money. She does as she’s told and all you can hear is the baby crying over the men yelling. After they take the money the two men take off and disappear out the door. Within a few minutes the police are at the bar asking everyone what went on during the robbery and can they describe the two men. The police are finished and things at the bar get back to normal, the talk is of the robbery and try to drink the memory of the night away. As I leave the bar its about midnight and it’s a cool summer night, a few kids are out running around playing and laughing. I continue to walk around the corner back to my friend’s house, who left right after the robbery. I reach his house and just stand outside wondering if I want to bother him because I don’t see any lights on. I decide to keeping on walking to my car and head home. When I get home the neighborhood kids are playing a game of late night basketball and I decide to join them. We pick new teams, set the rules, and begin to play. The teams are matched fairly but that doesn’t really matter because no one said anything. We are all running around playing having a good time, and at that time it seems as if there are no worries in the world and that nothing can hurt you at that time.
