...out. I’m not really sure of what the red or gray country is, but I think it means that inside Oklahoma, there are two parts, a boring or dull one and a more exciting one. I think that the gray country might be the part where all the plants grow and the red country is where the action is, where there are lots of people and things happening. The next part is “the last rains came gently, and they did not cut the scarred earth.” I believe that there is a lot to say in the rest of the line. Perhaps the author is trying to tell the reader that it is at the end of rain season, like Spring, and Oklahoma was experiencing their last bit of rain for awhile. They did not cut the scarred earth probably means that since so much going on that the rains didn’t really affect much. The scarred earth could mean any number of things in this case. It could mean the people here on earth were corrupted or that all the soil upturned an...
