...ten what hatred towards another ethnic group of people can lead to? Unfortunately, the answer appears to be yes. This is evidenced in the newspaper article about the setting on fire of a Jewish school library this month in Montreal. I was unnerved to hear that an intolerable event such as this one happened right in our own country. I most definitely agree with the statement made by our Prime Minister, that this is more than an attack on a Jewish elementary school. It is a threat towards our freedom and it is an attack on Canada’s most cherished citizens: our children. Despite the awfulness of the situation, it is heartening to know that the officials, including the mayor of Montreal, members of Parliament, and the Justice Minister Irwin Cotler, all denounced the cowardly attack.
