Family doctors are very limited in their knowledge about these kinds of disorders, and they are often too quick to prescribe medicine. When these children are pumped full of antidepressants their symptoms are put into hyper mode. Their mood swings become more aggressive which could lead to either more medications, or even worse a life of psychosis. This article frustrates me as a mother. You look at the elementary schools today, and it seem like half of the kids are medicated. What makes things worse is that most of the time it’s the teachers diagnosing the problem. If a child does not sit still during a class when they are in first grade, it’s ADHD, or ADD. It has gotten to the point that the children that really have the mental problems and should be on the medication are blended in with the rest of the sheep. For example; two children in elementary school, one is a spoiled brat who gets everything that they want, and when they don’t get it they have a fit. This child is out of control, picks on other kids, throws paper airplanes in class. Things that he knows he shouldn’t do, but he does because he knows he can get away with it.
