In the circumstance, Linda purposely asks the junior salesperson to send Poseidon the misleading fax to acquire the deal when the Poseidon becomes suspicious of the prices First America is quoting. Then, what would be the right decision to make as the salesperson? Would you send the Poseidon the erroneous fax with knowing that it is incorrect, merely for the company’s benefit, or would you not and follow your morals? Let’s review both cases. First of all, when the junior salesperson chooses to send the misleading fax intentionally to Poseidon and CFO, it would be advantageous both for the company and himself even though it might be against ethics. He is hired to assist Linda and following her orders is the way to assist her. Linda is his direct boss at the bank and she made her commands clear. In addition, Linda is the one who employed him in to the bank. If he chooses to follow her instructions, it will bring him additional personal advantage as an award as well as an opportunity to make his way up at the First America Bank. On the other hand, what if he decides not to send the fax and tell CFO that the requested price is incorrect? In the case, his moral comes before his succession. All people have an obligation to be honest, yet most people disregard the duty in front of material success. What would be the consequences when the salesperson concerns the clients’ loss prior to his company’s profit? He would not have to deceive himself, yet he probably will not be able to keep his job. I critically thought about what If I was put on the salesperson’s situation. Would it be the moral or the material success that would come first? Neither. The salesperson is employed to assist Lisa, and his job is to follow her requests. If I was the salesperson, I would have sent the misleading fax to Poseidon Cruise Lines as Lisa asked. There are three major reasons that support my final decision. As mentioned above, first of all, I was hired to assist Lisa and I get paid for doing my job.
