According to the vice minister of Chinese Education, the CET is not required for graduation and employers should not use the CET for hiring purpose and see to it that the test takers are college studetns.And another purpose is to test students' comprehensive ability with emphasis on students listening and speaking ability. As we know Chinese students are comfortable at reading, but they can not open their mouth when encountered with a native English speaker. The reform includes changing the exam contents, the scoring system and test supervision. As for the content changing, one is that the listening part accounts for 35 percent of the whole test instead of 20 percent.
