This is where the reader should start understanding what Louise is feeling at this point of the story. Especially after reading that she becomes excited and starts fantasizing about living life for herself. Louise goes on to express that she knew her husband loved her but the reader definitely knows that she loved him only some of the time. She also realizes that life is long at least she wishes and she starts to feel like a goddess. The final part of the story I think is the most unexpected to both her and the reader. I had just accepted the reaction of Louise and then in walk her husband, which shocked everyone. It shocked her so much that she died because of it. The ironic thing is the doctors in the story say she died of joy, but it seems to me that she had died of just the opposite. I think Louise thought she was free but upon seeing her husband might have felt being under his will again. At first when I read this story I didn’t entirely understand it. Upon reading it two more times I understood it more and more. I asked myself what “The Story of an Hour” meant? I now understand that Louise realized for one short hour what her live would have been like without her husband. Then I asked myself if it rang true when I considered my own feelings. I know this if someone were to tell me my wife passed on I believe I wouldn’t feel the same way, however I can understand if certain people did feel like Louise did.
