Personal Perception Customs, habits, experiences and beliefs shape our perceptions. What we see, read or hear may not always be as it appears. Critical thinking and analyzing allow us to look past such preliminary perceptions and see things as they really are. One experience I had where my perception of the situation was the complete opposite was at work and involved three employees who were engaged in a discussion. The situation took place in the production floor during my first day of work for this company. I still did not know all the employees in the facility or positions in the company. What I saw was a group of three employees who were engaged in what appear to be a heated discussion on a work related problem that had occurred the night before. My first impression of the situation was that two supervisors were questioning the press operator on the job that was not produced. What I based my judgement on was the fact that the two people who were doing the talking were the supervisors since they were expressive and extremely busy with non-verbal gestures.
