(“religious tolerance”) There are many other reasons for women choosing to have an abortion. * She is not ready to become a parent. * She can not afford a baby. * She does not want to be a single parent. * She is too young. * She has all the children she wants. * She or the fetus has a health problem. * She was a victim of rape or incest. The issue is not “who decides, the women or the government”, but that the woman should have the right to choose. Many believe in the rights of a women and their choice to continue with their pregnancy. In 1973 the U. S. Supreme Court, by a 7-2 decision, ruled that unborn humans were not “legal persons”, and that they were the property of the mother, who is given the right to have or abort the unborn offspring. Roe vs. Wade gave women the right to have an abortion if she wanted. The court ruled in 1973 that, anywhere in the United States: * A women and her doctor may freely decide to end the pregnancy during the first trimester, * State governments can restrict abortion access after the first trimester with laws intended to protect the women’s health, * Abortion after the fetal viability must be available if the women’s health or life is at risk. If women were not given the choice to have an abortion and the child is born unwanted then there is a probability that the child can become a victim.
