In the book Hitchhiker’s to the Galaxy the character Ford is motivated by his loyalty to his friend when he saves his friend the main character Arthur Dent from the destruction of earth. He could have just left him there to die but he couldn't have done that because he became too good of a friend to him. There is a theme that they both share is that real friends never would leave a friend in need. Jason in the first book Dark Side of Nowhere had a best friend who was not much a friend when at the end he betrayed Jason and snitched on him to the aliens. But his best friend helped him out too when he tried to destroy the alien ship. Also Jason’s girlfriend Paula helped him in anyway she could and wanted to know about what was going on. In the book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy the character Ford was Arthur Dent’s best friend saved him from earth’s destruction out of friendship. In each novel the theme real friends would never leave a friend in need is used in each book to show what friends would do when another friend is in need. When you read these two books with this theme in mind you understand what kind of people the characters in the book are since you know how they would react when a friend is in need of help.
