...n. Bunin portrays to the reader the feeling of a national catastrophe, by not agreeing with the official characteristics of the Russian leadership, historical figures, and writers. All this took place around Bunin was during 1918 and till June 1919 found the reflection on the pages of the book. In the whole picture the times were not pleasant: “You get hit and your not allowed to cry” (Quote I.A Bunin). Bunin thinking about the causes of the revolution, comparing these events from different sides and at deferent time and came to a conclusion about “every revolution is the same”. Bunin came up with the meaning of the revolution which is “One of the most unique traits of the revolution is –big need for war.” The revolution made a fool out of Russia. With pain and despair Bunin explains, that the overthrowing of the previous government something horrible was committed, an international flag was raised over the country to be the flag of all ethnic groups. Bunin does not deny the fact that the person responsible for the revolution is Lenin. The Bolsheviks believed in a world revolution they see betrayal around every corner and they scared for their power and they’re lives. Bunin didn’t think highly of Lenin. Lenin presented to the world something monstrous, something unbelievable; he cased the downfall of the greatest country in the world. And killed several million people. Fear overtook many people because former cooks came to power, appearance of who brings sadness upon pre-Revolutionary faces. For Bunin any revolutionary is a criminal. In Bunin's eyes Russia had gone insane in October of 1917 because Russia survived thousands of witch hunts. Bunin defends the Whites because he is one of them. Bunin notes, with the coming of the communist party no person wanted to work. During the days when brotherhood, equality, and freedom were supposed to be the way of life. But in reality it was not so. During the revolutionary period every ordinary person is supposed to have a say in the process.
