Gender stereotypes

...ut most often only when deemed appropriate, or when noone is watching (she is in danger, or at home out of the public eye). This is also true for men in that they are less likely to show aggression unlessed faced with pressure to establish their dominance by other men. 2. Females are naturally more nurturing than males I agree that females in general exhibit a more nurturing side than males, but once again I do not feel this is completely by natures design. I feel Society has alloacated that role to women, so therefore women have developed those tendencies. In my opinion men are just as capable and in fact some men do display nurturing abilities, just as some women fail to. However, men are not encouraged to take on this task so tmost develop no means to do so. 3. Men and women’s brains are organized differently, which causes them to behave differently from one another. I completely disagree with this statement. I feel it is vice versa. It is poossible that we are born with the same basic brain structure and as we are assigned gender roles and take on certain behavior our brain organizes its functions accordingly. The areas of our brain required to do the specific tasks and functions we place before it and the areas used to process information become further developed as they are used. For example, society deems women are to be more emotional than men, and the majority of women behave accordingly. The brain then adapts to assist in that behavior. Since this socialization begins at birth it is difficultto establish a basis for this hypothesis. I found it very interesting that women had a greater amount of corpus collosum than men. I am curious as to whether or not age or percieved gender was taken into consideration in determinig this, and if there has been any research done on the differences in the male and female brain specific to age. 4. I think that everyone has sexual curosity as an adolescent that is not necessarily limited to heterosexual curiosity. As these curiosities are explored or ignored (due to fear of societal as well as parental rejection) we develop. We may explore them in fantasy, through media, or through actual experimentation. It is my belief that as the human race progresses there will be greater acceptance of varying sexualities. In looking at the study of the brain of homosexual men I was curious as to whether their gender was taken into consideration. How many of the homosexual men that they studied were feminine and how many masculine? I think this is very pertinent in determining if the differences in the homosexu...
