...e predator. The predator part of her is her appearance and behaviour. The men at the ranch thinks she is dangerous because she lets Curley think for her. She is also a tart because she causes trouble for the men at the ranch such as Slim, Carlson and now Lennie. The clothing that she wears has the colour of red in which stands for danger which she is. The way she talks to the men is in a playful manner such as: “If he ain’t, I guess I better look some place else.” Which is sort of like teasing them in a concealed way. The way she stands when she is around the men is quite provocative because when she stands she puts her hands on her back and pushes her body forwards to accentuate the upper body. The way she speaks to the men is in a rather sexual nature. She is also like a cheetah after her prey with the men at the ranch as the prey. Curley’s wife is also a victim because she is never named as a real person. She is also a possession of Curley as he tells her how to think and what to do. To him she is just another trophy up on the wall. Curley does not treat her as an individual person. She is treated as an individual sometime by Slim and the other ranch men. Some men on the ranch think of her only as a sex object and nothing else. Curley will not allow her to talk to anyone on the ranch except for himself and his pa. “You can talk to people, but I can’t talk to nobody but Curley. Else he gets mad. How’d you like not to talk to anybody.” This shows the victim side of Curley’s wife. Her dreams that have been made true was to move away from her mother.
