Agreeing to bring a prostitute into his hotel room and then not wanting to get intimate with her and just wanting to have a person to talk shows Holden’s loneliness. After the incident with Sunny and Maurice, Holden was feeling worse than ever and as shown even lonelier, he thought it would be a good idea to give Sally Hayes a call so that he will not be as lonely.
