...sn’t know in the beginning, is a married man with a daughter and a son. Darcie’s best friend is a woman named Claire. Claire is married to Peter and has a baby. After finding out about Merrick, Darcie meets another man, Dylan Rafferty. Dylan is a handsome sheep-farmer who lives in Australia. The story starts out in New York in an apartment shared by Darcie and her grandmother. Then when Darcie gets a job offer to travel to Australia, she takes it and the story goes on to Sydney. The novel then comes back to New York and then goes back to Australia. The novel takes place in the present. The two main themes of Strapless are lust and love. Lust because Darcie meets Merrick in the FAO Schwartz to “do the nasty” whenever he calls her. Love because Darcie ends up dumping Merrick and falling head-over-heals for Dylan. In the beginning, Darcie Elizabeth Baxter is living in her apartment that she shares with her grandmother. She works at Wunderthings Lingerie. And she is seeing Merrick Lowell, a businessman who will only see her when he feels horny and wants her to meet in him the FAO Schwartz. She gets an offer to open a new section of the Wunderthings chain in Sydney Australia. She is reluctant to take the offer because of her situation with Merrick. So she goes shopping. She wanders into a children’s store to buy a little something for her best friend, Claire’s new baby. She was looking through the toys and clothes when she saw Merrick in the store. She went up to say “hi” and saw that he was there with a little girl. When she heard the little girl call Merrick “daddy,” she was heartbroken. She continued heading towards Merrick to let him know that she now knew his little secret and to tell him that she wouldn’t be visiting him ever again. She then went home to tell her boss that she was definitely going to Australia. When they arrived in Australia, they had a meeting and then went to a bar for a few drinks. While in the bar, Darcie saw a very handsome man, Dylan Rafferty. She went over to talk to him. They ended up spending the night in his hotel room. She then had to go back home to New York to work out some quirks in the plans for the Sydney ope...
