Fairytales have been entertaining people for many many years. They are an amusing way to enjoy a story, not only for young kids, but for people of all ages. A majority of the time, the author of a fairytale can use his or her own conventionalized ideas. These ideas, or stereotypes may be what the author believes personally, or they might just assist in adding depth or reason into a story. They may even make the fairytale more favorable and interesting. However, sometimes these stereotypes can be opposing to what is actually true, or morally correct. It all depends upon the fairytale and the author who wrote that fairytale. In addition, an authors stereotyping may construct the story to have either a positive effect, a negative effect, or both. An author’s main purpose in writing a fairytale is to keep it spirited and fun. Basically, the intent is to give the reader what they want.
