Don’t Over-Stress the Importance of Theory
... is an artificial product of human beings. The intimate link between language and thinking justifies the worship of linguistic faculty. But language is incompetent in conveying the experiential world that is rich and profound. There is a gap between what is shown by language and what is experienced in reality, which is to be bridged by imagination. Any verbal description of the feelings drinking cold water is not adequate until one personally drinks the water. It is not until the 19th century when research findings revealed the incompetence of it that the halo over language began to fade. Yet, the elimination of this superstition takes time. Language is the brick we use in constructing a theory; and the principles dictating brick-laying is logic. Logic is linear by nature, which entails sequential feature of theory and starts the nightmare of endless procedure of reasoning. The best illustration is the proving of the existence of God.
