Negative Effects to Sports Hype

I guess this is why I am mostly against targeting kids and youths so young, it seems to be that we are setting them up for failure. With companies looking to sponsor and NBA scouts boasting about talent, it seems like these kids are almost expecting it to happen, and everyone knows that what we expect to happen and what may happen are two different worlds. What is today, may not be tomorrow, and it seems like that was just the case for Shea Cotton. In Cotton’s case, he suffered injuries in his junior and senior years of high school, subsequently, shortly after all this hype began. One injury to his left hand, one injury to his right shoulder and before you knew it, everyone who was once calling him faded out of the picture.
